Find the area of trapezium below.

Solution

Let h=height, a=upper side, b= lower side

h=8m, a=7m, b=9m.

Area = ½ x h x (a + b)

Area = ½ x 8 x (7 + 9)

Area = 1 x ⁴8 x 16

           ₁2

Area = 1 x 4 x 16

Area = 64

Hence area is 64m²
